STRABAG UK secures Van Elle for £59m

STRABAG UK has officially acquired Van Elle Holdings and welcomed the piling specialist as a new subdivision of the company.

The acquisition came as majority shareholders voted in favour of the construction and infrastructure giant’s recommendation to buy Van Elle earlier this year, for £58.8 million.

Bosses hope the deal will strengthen STRABAG’s existing capabilities and grow its “value creation” across both building and infrastructure projects.

Last year, Van Elle delivered revenue of roughly £130 million and has built a strong presence in the energy and water sectors, considered higher growth, higher margin areas when compared to its traditional end markets.

Managing director at STRABAG, Simon Wild said: This acquisition is part of our growth strategy in the UK and enables us to combine STRABAG’s broad resources and expertise with Van Elle’s vast knowledge and wealth of experience in ground engineering and geotechnical specialism.

“We look forward to the team at Van Elle joining us at this exciting time for STRABAG in the UK.”

In May, STRABAG UK reported turnover of £189.2 million, with its wider operations generating revenue exceeding £600 million.
