Sweet Project eyes growth in data centres and defence

Sweet Project Construction Limited has reported a “strong” balance sheet, amid a downturn in activity in its core markets.

Data centre

For the year ended 31 December 2025 turnover fell from £134.3 million to £65.4 million, with operating profit coming in at £1 million, down from £3.5 million in the previous year.

This was due to a reduction in activity within the company’s core data centre and defence sectors, as well as the timing and phasing of major projects.

However, bosses said both sectors continue to provide “significant long-term opportunities” for the business.

A recent financial statement states: “Whilst project commencement dates and construction programmes can create periods of volatility in annual revenues, demand across both [data centre and defence] sectors remains robust.”

During the year Sweet Project focused on secured project delivery, while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients

“The company’s reputation for delivering complex and technically demanding projects continues to support repeat business and provides access to new opportunities across a widening geographical footprint,” the statement continued.

Sweet Project finished the financial period with improved shareholder funds of £13.8 million (FY24: £10.6 million), and £11.8 million of cash in the bank (FY24: £27 million).

Speaking about the results, the financial statement said: “This strong balance sheet position, together with prudent cash management and a continued focus on working capital, provides a solid platform from which the company can support future growth and respond to changing market conditions.”
