MEP, sustainability, and ESG consultancy Wallace Whittle has seen “transformational” growth since its 2021 management buyout, more than doubling its workforce and turnover while expanding its reach across the UK.

In the five years since its management buyout from Munich-based TÜV SÜD Group, the Scotland-headquartered firm has grown turnover from £8 million to £20 million and opened new offices in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, and London, extending far beyond its original base in Scotland and Ireland.
The milestone this month also reflects major investment in office infrastructure, sustainability services, and staff development through Wallace Whittle’s in-house academy, enabling delivery of complex, high-value projects.
Managing director Allan McGill described the firm now as a “major player”.
“It’s an incredibly proud moment, celebrating five years of outstanding growth while marking our 62 years of history,” he said.
“Our goal with the buyout was to return to what Wallace Whittle is at its core, while evolving how we operate in a modern market.
“We took our decades-old foundation of quality and re-engineered the business in 2021 to support much larger ambitions through organic, investment-led and acquisitional growth.
He added that much of the firm’s success comes from deepening relationships with existing clients, who have entrusted Wallace Whittle with increasingly complex, high-value projects, rather than simply chasing new business.

Last year, the firm acquired Glasgow-based M&E consultancy Davie + McCulloch for an undisclosed sum, broadening its expertise across data centres, education, commercial, residential, and more.
It also strengthened its leadership team with regional directors Andrew Smith, Carl Saxon, Darren Wright, Peter Kirk, and Colin Preston, whose careers span Jacobs, Mecserve, and WSP.
Looking towards 2030, Wallace Whittle aims to expand its UK-wide presence, bring more expertise in-house, and position itself for the future while reducing outsourcing further.
