Bosses hope the launch and appointments will drive growth for the firm and strengthen its expertise across the region.

Director Rob Speirs said: “Through the Exeter office and these strategic regional leadership changes, we have a clear long-term vision for how we can expand across the South over the next five years.”

Its senior-level appointments aim to facilitate this expansion, extending its presence further into the south west.

The firm appointed Andrew Charlton, a former Wates pre-construction director, as regional pre-construction director in February.

Meanwhile, Matthew James, who previously worked at Willmott Dixon, has been promoted to regional director of the Southampton office, after ten years with the company.

Additionally, former ISG contracts manager Ian Woodward is set to manage Stepnell’s Bristol office, with Willmott Dixon alumnus Wayne Stokes being promoted to deputy commercial manager.

Commenting on their appointments, Speirs said: “We have an incredible breadth of talent across our southern business operations.

“Matthew has been instrumental in supporting our selective approach and will have a significant role to play in achieving our growth ambitions across the South.

“The additional promotions for Ian and Wayne are thoroughly deserved after several years of outstanding contribution.

“Andrew brings a formidable track record in pre-construction performance that will showcase the tremendous value and quality we can deliver through the tendering and preconstruction progress.”

Stepnell recently increased turnover to £112 million, following five years of consecutive profit growth, with revenue forecast to reach £140 million this financial year.
