Building contractor Speller Metcalfe is celebrating an “excellent” operational and financial performance this year, with profits up significantly and a secured workload moving forward.

For the year ended 31 March 2025, Speller Metcalfe reported a huge rise in revenue to £162 million, up from £132.5 million the year prior, underpinned by a pre-tax profit of well over £3.3 million (FY2024: £1 million).
And while net assets for the Worcestershire-headquartered firm also grew during the period, to £5.3 million (FY2024: £2.7 million), the business also returned a robust cash position of £23.5 million, compared to £18.6 million in 2024.
“The directors consider the performance for the year and the financial position at the year-end to be excellent and are pleased to report that the group has maintained its profitability in the period,” a financial statement reads.
“The group continues to focus on frameworks and identifying clients with multiple opportunities to create a sustainable pipeline of work to support the continued development of the group.
“While uncertainties still exist in the macro economy, the outlook for the group in the current financial year (to 31 March 26) remains extremely positive.”
Accounts show Speller Metcalfe’s current secured workload is almost 100 per cent of its budget, fully secured under formal pre-contract agreements.
The contractor delivers construction projects across a range of sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, sports, leisure, retail, and housing.
Operating profit climbed significantly from £680,327 in 2024 to more than £2.5 million this year.
Profit for the year was also well above £2.5 million, compared to £833,512 the year before.
