Skanska director heads to Bachy Soletanche amid leadership expansion

Geotechnical specialist and engineering giant Bachy Soletanche has made two senior appointments to support its growth aspirations across the UK.

L-R: Martin Stanley, technical director; Balint Madar, divisional director – south.

Martin Stanley has been promoted to the newly created role of technical director, while Balint Madar joins the business as divisional director – south, succeeding Stanley in leading the division.

Stanley has worked at Bachy Soletanche for 20 years, during which time he has built extensive experience across design, estimating, and operations on a range of geotechnical projects.

In this new role, he will oversee technical, design, operational systems, quality, and digital functions, ensuring high standards across all divisions.

His remit spans business development, preconstruction, operations and plant yard activities.

A chartered civil engineer with more than 14 years’ experience, Madar joins from Cementation Skanska, where he was business stream director, bringing extensive project management and operational leadership experience.

He has led both preconstruction and delivery teams on high-profile schemes such as Battersea Power Station, 2 Finsbury Avenue and 1 Liverpool Street.

Madar also delivered projects in the residential and infrastructure sector in the UK, and internationally with Soletanche Bachy Hungary.

Taking on the role of divisional director – south, he will lead geotechnical project delivery across the South of England and South Wales.

Stanley said leading the Southern Division had been “extremely enjoyable”, but that he was looking forward to bringing his problem-solving approach to customers across the UK having found “a natural replacement” in Madar.

Madar added: “I am delighted to be joining Bachy Soletanche at an exciting time for the business. I look forward to building on the Southern Division’s strong reputation, strengthening relationships with our clients and partners, driving operational excellence, and supporting continued growth in London and across the region.”
