The company has committed to investing in its workforce, through “comprehensive” training programmes for existing employees as well as financing apprenticeship programmes.

Currently, apprentices and trainees represent 14 per cent of Seddon’s workforce, with an average retention rate of 93 per cent.

“We have maintained a strong commitment to investing in apprentices, recognising these staff will always represent a valuable asset which transcends market cycles,”  – bosses.

Describing nurturing future talent as a “central” to its strategy, the company, through successful outreach programmes, has also increased the number of women in its apprenticeship schemes.

Last year, 2,694 people applied for just 20 apprenticeship roles in its latest hiring round, with bosses highlighting a lack of schemes could result in fresh talent being lost.

Seddon’s overall retention rate has grown since 2022, from 69 per cent to 80 per cent in 2025.
