Dean O’Sullivan has stepped into the role of CEO at multinational construction materials manufacturer, Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland, taking over from Mike Chaldecott after more than four decades of service.

O’Sullivan’s appointment coincides with the launch of Lead & Grow, the company’s new five-year strategy aimed at positioning Saint-Gobain as a solutions-focused business across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.
With 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, O’Sullivan has held several senior leadership roles within the Saint-Gobain Group.
He joined in 2007 as a sales manager for Gyproc in Ireland, later becoming sales and marketing director for the combined Gyproc and Isover Ireland businesses.
He went on to lead Saint-Gobain’s UK operations at Okarno (formerly Artex), and then its insulation businesses including Isover.
Since 2021, he has served as managing director of Saint-Gobain’s UK interior solutions division, overseeing brands such as British Gypsum and Isover, where he led a transformation in how the businesses support customers across housing, infrastructure, and retrofit markets.

He succeeds Chaldecott who retires after 42 years with the group, having progressed from graduate entry to CEO of the UK & Ireland business.
O’Sullivan said: “It’s a great privilege to lead Saint-Gobain’s businesses in the UK & Ireland at a time when we release a new strategy that positions Saint-Gobain as a true solutions provider for customers.
“As the construction sector finds its way of responding to huge challenges such as climate change, protecting natural resources and unprecedented demand for construction – housing, infrastructure, retrofit and repurposing Saint-Gobain has a strong vision for being a catalyst for a transformed construction sector.”
The appointment follows a strong first half of 2025 for the group, which reported record sales of €23.9 billion and operating income of €2.8 billion, with a solid UK performance helping offset weaker results elsewhere in Europe.
