Bachy Soletanche, part of Vinci Group, has reported a 37 per cent drop in turnover, following HS2 delays and reduced activity across the business.

During FY25, revenue fell to £87.3 million, down from £139.3 million the year prior, with an operating profit of £1.4 million (FY24: £3.8 million).
Meanwhile, pre-tax profit jumped roughly 15 per cent to £4.6 million, up from £4 million in FY24.
Despite the downturn, the firm is focused on improving profitability by increasing its market share and strengthening onsite productivity long term.
As part of Bachy Soletanche’s three-year strategy, the company has “transformed” its operations, expanding regional divisions with new offices in Leeds and Glasgow.
Additionally, it secured several work packages on Sizewell C, which are expected to drive up business activity and growth in the coming years.
Speaking on the health of the business, in a statement bosses said : “The company is reporting a positive net current asset position and have reviewed the current performance and prepared cash forecasts for the next 12 months which shows sufficient cash balances to fund the business.
“The realisation of these forecasts may be affected by a number of factors, including changes in customer behaviour, however, the directors are confident that the company has adequate resources to continue its operations for the foreseeable future.”
Bachy Soletanche’s cash position fell slightly to £37 million (FY24: £44.1 million), with its net assets stable at £32.8 million (FY24: £31.3 million).
In June, the engineering giant made two senior appointments to support its growth aspirations across the UK, Martin Stanley as technical director – a new role – and Balint Madar as divisional director, South.
