Mark Wolverson returns to the business after 14 years, and will take on the role of delivery director, supporting projects in the region worth £58 million across defence, civic, transport and education.

Prior to this, Wolverson worked at Wates Group as operations director from 2024-26.

Speaking on his appointment, he said he was “excited” to be rejoining the company, after more than a decade.

He added: “To now lead the North East region fulfils a long-held ambition, and I’m incredibly excited about the next chapter.”

The appointment comes as Willmott Dixon continues to prioritise its 2030 strategy, called “Build Our Future”, which encourages its regional construction businesses to create their own specific growth plans.

Build Our Future involves working with clients earlier, as well as funding options for a scheme from planning to procurement and using local supply chain partners.

Managing director at Willmott Dixon in the North, Anthony Dillon spoke on the importance of Wolverson’s appointment:: “Fourteen years here, the most recent of them running operations in the North East, means he arrives understanding both our customers and our supply chain.

“That matters more than ever as we take Building our Future forward, because growing the region depends on being close to local decision makers and being involved early rather than waiting for a tender.”

For FY2025, the Willmott Dixon group posted revenue of £1.12 billion (FY2024: £1.15 billion), bolstered by underlying pre-tax profits of £31.4 million (FY2024: £26.8 million). This was alongside a record £4.4 billion forward pipeline.
