Caddick Civil Engineering has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of a former Tolent boss as construction director in a new role created to support the company’s regional expansion.

Lee Brown joins from N&T Civils, bringing more than 30 years of experience in construction and civil engineering, as well as regional knowledge of the North East for which his new role covers.
His appointment is a key part of Caddick’s strategy to grow its presence and strengthen operations across the region.
Brown began his career as a joiner before moving into management.
He spent two decades at Tilbury Douglas – formerly Interserve Construction – where he worked alongside Caddick Civil Engineering managing director Paul Ellenor, and later held senior roles at Arrowbuild & Civil Engineering, Applebridge, and, the now collapsed, Tolent.
Based at Caddick’s Durham office, Brown will oversee project delivery, coordinate teams and supply chains, and expand the company’s North East workload and client base.
“It’s fantastic to be joining Caddick Civil Engineering at a pivotal time for the business,” said Brown.
“Having previously worked with Paul and knowing his strong work ethic, passion and desire for success, I knew this would be a great opportunity to re-join forces with a trusted colleague.
“I’m looking forward to working together and using my experience to assist the team in building the business’ profile, attracting a diverse range of external clients and delivering high-quality projects.”

Ellenor, who joined Caddick in January from Tilbury Douglas after nearly four decades, added: “Lee’s appointment to the team is a significant step forward for our expansion plans in the North East.
“His extensive experience, in the region and across all aspects of construction and civil engineering, makes him an invaluable addition as we continue to grow our presence and service offering.”
It follows Caddick’s continued regional expansion, with its construction arm opening a new Birmingham office, alongside a new regional managing director for the East Midlands, to support a £1 billion project pipeline across industrial, commercial, and residential sectors.
For the year ended 31 August 2024, Caddick Construction Group reported £372.8 million in turnover, bolstered by £1.4 billion in new orders.
The Construction, Civil Engineering, and Facades divisions achieved a £4.5 million pre-tax profit, with a combined margin target of four per cent.
