Energy and civils contract wins lift revenues at BAM Group

Royal BAM Group has boosted revenues and adjusted earnings, supported by contract wins and longer-term framework and partnership agreements, particularly in the energy and civils sectors.

In a trading update, the Netherlands-headquartered group said it expects further growth in revenue and adjusted EBITDA.

The profitability of its UK construction division, which was at £27 million, continued to improve following a £24 million deficit in 2024, supported by careful project selection and efficient delivery.

Civil Engineering UK also maintained solid results.

Recent contracts include a £71.8 million Wales High School in Sheffield and a £56 million Eastwood Park Leisure Centre, theatre, and library in Scotland.

BAM was also chosen for the £15 billion multi-year school framework contract CF25 with the Department for Education.

Within Civil Engineering UK, the company secured a place on the £1.2 billion Procurement Partnerships North West Framework, covering public sector construction and infrastructure projects over the next four years.

The group’s total order book remains at €13 billion, thanks to its key project wins in energy transition and defence.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands division posted higher profitability in the first quarter, helped by more homes sold and major projects such as The Bridge at Utrecht Science Park.

Belgium also contributed strongly.

With around 13,500 employees, BAM recorded €7 billion in revenue in 2025 – £3 billion of which comes from the UK and Ireland – and will start a €40 million share buyback programme next week.

Chief executive officer Ruud Joosten said it was a “solid” start to the year, supported by a diversified order book and disciplined project selection.

He added: “Looking ahead, we see strong market opportunities driven by the accelerating need for energy transition, investment in infrastructure and defence, and the growing demand for sustainable and affordable housing, areas in which we have demonstrated market-leading capabilities.

“This is also supported by government investments and initiatives in the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Ireland.
