National Grid has picked eight contractors for a potential £640m framework to install 66kV and 132kV electricity cables across its transmission and distribution networks.
The one-year framework, with an option to extend for a further 12 months, will support cable installation work for National Grid Electricity Transmission and its electricity distribution businesses across the East Midlands, West Midlands, South West and South Wales.
The successful firms are:
- Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions
- OCU Services
- Excalon
- A Thomas Plant Hire
- United Infrastructure Power T&D
- Circet (UK)
- M&A Doocey Civil Engineering
- Network Plus Services
Each contractor has been awarded a place on an £80m share of the framework, giving the overall programme a potential value of £640m.
The framework covers the full installation of 66kV, 132kV and lower-voltage cable circuits, including associated earth wires, telecoms ducts, jointing, testing and commissioning for individual projects. It will be available for use across National Grid’s electricity transmission, distribution and ventures businesses.
