Steve Elliott will step down as chief executive at the end of August, with Anthony Brown, currently chief marketing officer, appointed as his successor.

During his 12-year tenure, Elliott spearheaded the company’s transition to employee ownership.

And for FY2025, BW recorded a 132 per cent rise in pre-tax profit, to £13.9 million, while revenue increased by a third to £326.7 million.

Atop an operating margin of 3.93 per cent, ordinary dividends of £16.5 million were paid, up from £2 million the year prior.

After the record result, the firm is targeting £500 million in turnover by 2030, as it enjoys strong, existing client partnerships across the London office construction market.

Reflecting its growth, BW relocated its team to a new office at The Carter, close to St Paul’s Cathedral, in March.

The move was necessary since the team has grown from 65 staff in 2016 to close to 320 employees this year.

Speaking to the leadership transition, Elliott said: “Leading BW has been the highest honour of my career. I’m leaving the business in excellent shape and in excellent hands. Anthony has been at the heart of BW for years and understands exactly what makes this company what it is.”

Brown added: “BW’s success has always been built on its people. My job is to build on what Steve and the leadership team have created, and I couldn’t be taking it on from a stronger position.”

Brown will take up the role of chief executive on 20 July.
