Bouygues hiring thousands for UK mega-projects as results impress

Bouygues plans to recruit thousands across the UK this year, supporting major infrastructure and energy projects including the Sizewell C nuclear power station, as the group posts “strong” first-quarter results.

The UK represents a major part of Bouygues’ 30,000-strong global recruitment, with 2,700 vacancies expected across construction, civil engineering, utilities, and energy transition roles.

Key divisions hiring include Colas, Bouygues Construction, and Equans, covering positions from works supervisors and electricians to project managers and maintenance technicians.

The group reported a “strong” first quarter with revenue of €12.2 billion (QY1 2025: €12.5 billion), with current operating profit from activities rising 11.5 per cent to €77 million, driven largely by it energies and services business Equans, whose margin climbed to 4.8 per cent.

This builds on record 2025 cash flow and higher operating profit, despite a pre-tax UK loss, underpinned by a restructured Construction division and major projects such as Sizewell C.

Globally, Bouygues employs 200,000 people in nearly 80 countries, up from 130,000 following the acquisition of Equans from Engie in 2022 – now the group’s largest business segment.

Nearly half of the UK hires will support Equans, while the Construction Division continues to benefit from “sustained momentum” and a strong pipeline of large-scale, technically complex projects.

This includes Sizewell C, which has brought in a new phase of orders worth €150 million, as well as rail maintenance contracts and overseas works.

Overseas include road construction in California and Finland, a data centre in Australia, and education facilities in the US Virgin Islands.

The group’s overall order book stands at €32.2 billion.

More than 72,000 of its employees are shareholders, collectively holding more than 19 per cent of the company’s capital.

In the UK, Bouygues is the top non-British employer, with 20,000 employees.

Senior vice-president and director of Human Resources, Jean-Manuel Soussan said: We’re looking for people who are committed and want to find meaning in their work,” he said.

The group offers opportunities in high-impact sectors – energy transition, construction, digital technology, media – to play an active role in the major transformations taking place around the world.
