Housebuilder Bellway has named Ben Singlewood as the next head of construction to lead its developments for its regional North East business.

Singlewood, who has been with the company since 2004, previously held the role on an interim basis since May 2025.
Rising through the ranks, his roles include becoming senior site manager in 2014, working on the Stannington Park regeneration project on the former St Mary’s Hospital site in Northumberland, and senior construction manager in 2018.
In his new role, he will focus on strengthening operations across Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, and County Durham.
With 21 years of experience, Singlewood aims to enhance client satisfaction by prioritising infrastructure development early in the construction process.
It involves long-term strategic involvement across all stages, from land acquisition and planning to technical and sales, as well as onsite construction.

“Bellway is a great company to work for with good employee engagement. It’s a very inclusive and forward-thinking business,” said Singlewood.
“The one thing that is constant is change, and that’s a big appeal of the role for me. It’s a very dynamic role and I like the variety.
“We are creating communities and I get a lot of satisfaction in turning over a good house and a good product.”
His appointment comes at a time of significant growth for Bellway North East, with major projects like the DH1 development in Durham underway.
In its half-year results, Bellway reported a “strong and efficient balance sheet” supported by a £1.24 billion order book, positioning the company for steady growth despite challenging market conditions.
