OCU Group is celebrating another year of strong growth and investment, with improved financial indicators following a series of strategic acquisitions.

For the year ended 30 April 2025, the utilities infrastructure specialist, headquartered in Stockport, delivered an improved adjusted operating profit of £98.9 million, supported by revenue of £886.5 million, a 45 per cent increase on the previous trading period.
Adjusted EBITDA also rose during the year, to £111 million (FY2024: £65.7 million).
Bosses said the results reflected “strong” organic growth across multiple sectors and the positive impact of three strategic acquisitions completed during the year, strengthening OCU’s capabilities in energy transition, horizontal directional drilling, and water.
Chief financial officer David Snowball, the most recent guest to appear on Construction Wave’s Financial Chair series, said: “OCU Group continues to deliver strong, profitable growth, reflecting excellent progress against our strategic objectives.
“With a solid capital structure and robust financial footing, we are well positioned to build on this momentum into the future.”

Back in July, OCU purchased a majority interest in All Energy Contracting (AEC), a provider of solar, wind, storage, civil, and power infrastructure services, to a developing clean energy sector in Australia and New Zealand.
It followed a notable growth trajectory in recent years, in which OCU often executed several acquisitions in relatively quick succession.
In October last year, it announced the acquisition of Peter McCormack & Sons Limited (McCormack Drilling), in Northern Ireland, for an undisclosed sum, a company that has spent more than 50 years delivering trenchless technology solutions and major Horizontal Directional Drilling projects to various sectors.
A month before that, OCU announced the acquisition of Purestream Industries, which provides creative water and wastewater engineering, design and consultancy services to the Utilities sector.
That deal followed a string of other acquisitions, including Scottish civil engineering firm RJ McLeod.
Speaking to OCU’s recent financial results, chief executive, Michael Hughes, said: “OCU Group delivered consistently strong strategic and operational progress this year, underpinned by three acquisitions, organic contract wins, and continued investment in technology and talent.
“Our diversified position across essential UK infrastructure markets provides a robust platform for sustained, long-term value for clients and stakeholders.”
OCU provides design through to build, commissioning, and maintenance services across power, water, digital infrastructure, and energy transition markets.
In August 2022, OCU was acquired by Triton Partners, a leading investment firm.
