Founded in 2003, EFS provides comprehensive electrical and engineering services to commercial, industrial and renewable sectors, from its base in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.

The firm will continue to operate under its existing leadership team, while benefitting from Cardo’s resources and wider platform.

Robert Hadley, managing director at EFS, said: “Since 2003, we’ve built a solid reputation for consistent delivery and a hands-on, responsive approach.

“We focus on providing clients with quality service and results they can rely on in every project we take on.

“Being part of Cardo allows us to build on that foundation, with access to greater scale, support and opportunities, while continuing to deliver the high standards our clients expect.”

The transaction, for an undisclosed sum, forms part of Cardo’s strategy to acquire firms that enhance its client offering throughout the UK.

Since its founding in 2012, Cardo has rapidly expanded its business portfolio with a series of strategic acquisitions.

In the last three years alone, for example, the group executed 14 transactions and is currently projected to generate £400 million in turnover for the 2027 financial period.

Other acquisitions include Trident Maintenance Services, SERS Energy Solutions, Breyer Group’s roofing division, HeatCare Oil and Gas, A&N Lewis Limited, and several other businesses in the building maintenance and energy sectors throughout the country.

Cardo chief executive, Liam Bevan, said the group was pleased to welcome EFS into the fold as he and Hadley had worked together on a range of projects for more than 10 years.

Bevan added: “This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver integrated services for our clients, while continuing to grow our presence in key regions.

“Just as importantly, it brings in a team with the right values and expertise to support our long-term ambitions.”
