Geotechnical contractor Aarsleff Ground Engineering has streamlined its operations by removing a loss-making “element” of the business, leading to a turnover of £75.2 million.

For the year ended 30 September 2025, the Nottinghamshire-based company reported a 4.3 per cent drop in revenue to £75.2 million, down from £79.7 million the previous year, amid “challenging” market conditions, including “sustained pricing pressures” from both customers and suppliers, alongside shifting demand.
Despite missing the original budgeted targets, Aarsleff met its revised forecast, with pre-tax and operating profits declining by two-thirds each to £2.1 million (FY2024: £6.1 million) and £2.5 million (FY2024: £6.1 million).
Cash reserves fell to £261 from £440 in 2024, although net assets remained stable at £17.4 million.
Despite external pressures that reduced trading margins, Aarsleff Ground Engineering remained confident in its high utilisation rates across rigs and crews, reflecting operational efficiency.
As part of a strategic review, the company removed a loss-making “element” of its operations, reallocating techniques into more profitable areas and adding three new product lines – King Post Panels, Endura-Line Augers, and Energy Piles.
While this restructuring temporarily impacted turnover, the company expects to “create a platform for future growth as the business repositions itself within these markets”.

Looking ahead, Aarsleff aims to maintain a lean cost base, invest in machinery and technology, recruit top talent, and explore strategic acquisitions.
Bosses added: “While the business experienced a notable increase in project delays during the year, it continued to secure new work, resulting in a record forward order book of £36 million in uncommenced projects.
“This positions the business strongly for the 2025/26 financial year.“
